Once upon a time we didn’t have eBooks, and we certainly didn’t have a selection of free books to read; however, the publishing industry has changed dramatically over the last several years. With the introduction of eReaders and the explosion of Indie authors onto the scene, we now have more books to choose from and we can take them with us wherever we go.

Why do authors give their books away for free?
Think of it as a test drive. Authors write so you can enjoy their stories, but it can sometimes be difficult to find new authors with so many choices available. By offering a free sample of their work not only can they increase their exposure, but you get to enjoy new stories at no cost. It’s a win-win for authors and people who love to read plus, if you like their work, you’ve found a new favorite author. If you’re an avid reader, the more books to read on your list, the better!
Have fun exploring new sub-genres.
Book retailers, like iBooks, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo, have expanded the list of main genres to include sub-genres in order to better categorize books. For example, the main Romance genre now includes sub-genres like Military Romance, Paranormal Romance, Amish Romance, and yes, even Erotica Romance. If you like Cozy Mysteries, you can now find them in their own sub-genre under the main Mystery, Thriller & Suspense category. Just about every category has free books to read, and we’ve chosen nine to get you started.
